Peruvian and resident in Brazil since 2010. Independent international consultant. Labor lawyer with a master’s degree in Social Management.

From 2000 to 2013, he worked for the International Labor Organization (ILO), holding, among other positions, the Responsible of the Regional Program for the Eradication of Child Labor in Artisanal Mining in South America (2000-2005), through which he developed support actions to mining communities in Peru, Colombia, Ecuador and Bolivia under an approach of eliminating child labor through sustainable development.

He was part of the Responsible Small-Scale Mining Network in South America (RESPOMIN), sponsored by the Ibero-American Program of Science and Technology for Development (CYTED).

He participated as a speaker in global meetings organized by World Bank’s project Communities and Small-scale Mining (CASM). He was a member of the team of experts led by the Alliance for Responsible Mining (ARM) that formulated the Zero Standard proposal for fair trade of gold in artisanal and small-scale mining communities, especially contributing to the development of the Social and Labor standard chapter.

He has been author of various studies (individually and as a part of teams), working documents, articles, manuals and guides for the artisanal and small-scale mining sector, highlighting in this production the book “The Challenge of Formalization in Artisanal and Small-Scale Mining. Analysis of experiences in Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru”, published in 2006 by the Peruvian NGO CooperAccion, under the auspices of IDRC.
