CECOMIP: FRANCISCO UNO

“We are committed to the preservation and protection of the environment, as well as to the economic development of our community” William Yampara, former president of CECOMIP.

A RESPONSIBLE ALUVIAL MINING

The Central de Cooperativas Minero Metalúrgicas de Puno, CECOMIP LTDA, is located in the Ananea District at approximately 4700 meters above sea level. The temperature ranges from 7 ° C to -13 ° C. The climate is icy due to the presence of snow-capped mountains and pampas.

The cooperative was established on September 4, 2005, by a community of workers from the jurisdiction of the Ananea district, dedicated to artisanal mining with basic tools. Currently, CECOMIP’s Francisco Uno concession is certified with the Fairmined Fair Mining Standard.

CECOMIP’s type of gold extraction is alluvial. In this type of extraction, the deposits the minerals are dissolved together with sand and gravel. To extract the gold, it is necessary to wash with water and separate the sands and gravels. This concentrate is treated on a gravimetric table that takes advantage of the density of the gold to obtain the grains of the mineral.
